I have a first generation 6.0 LX and I am debating taking it with me on a 2.5 day trip in early September.

I have used for yellowtail and white sea bass but never for tuna,. I have a jx raptor and an hx Raptor would the lx work for a reel between those two.

Avet calls the original JX and LX 20-40# class reels. If I was using a reel of that size, I’d probably rather have a lower gear ratio. Your jx raptor should be your intermediate (40-60# class) reel and your lx is really the least powerful one of the bunch, but you could use it for “light“ line applications and have plenty of backing at least.

Take it. But, like those guys said , it's the "lightest" of the three.

I'd wager in Sept that will be your most commonly used reel.

    Small yft, paddy fishing.

In fact I would contemplate an sx or mx(j) for that trip if sticking with Avet.

I would put the LX on an 8' rod and put a jig on it, unless you already have a jig stick. yeah its wider then most prefer but works fine.

The LX has killed plenty of tuna, including 100# models at Guadalupe. Of course it won’t produce as much drag as the Raptor models, but it holds a ton of line behind a 40# topshot. Just don’t get carried away with buttoning down the drag. If turning the handle at Strike gets really hard, you’ve buttoned it too much. Fish it within its limits and you’ll do fine….
