Went out yesterday with some friends on a private boat to the same place everyone else is going. As a newbie to the sport it was a great day. Best of all was that my amateur knots held enough to get this one to the boat.

Well done and as a fellow newby, I'm super excited for you.

Heading out of Oceanside tomorrow, suggestions as to where to go?
Thx!

Way to go! :appl: I am happy for you... I still remember my first Tuna, I was eight or nine. I wasn't worried about my knots they had been tested on Bonita and Yellowtail...I was worried about being pulled over the side of the boat. I would wrap myself around the bait tank...legs holding on to the tank, arms holding on to the rod, cussing like hell and my old man laughing and saying "don't you let go of that pole, don't you let go of that pole". Of course mine looked bigger than yours, because the person holding it was so small.

Mexico? How did your buddies do? Finish the report, let us know what you were using for bait, water temp, color. depth, line weight, hook size, if you were wearing matching socks... not to worry you won't be giving up any secrets... you could even give numbers, Tuna are constantly moving... bail giving the numbers, that was a joke. congrats, nice fish.
