I heard there was a challenge on Saturday, no info/communication on this w/the fleet, no igfa rep asked to look at fish (some kind of mutilation) - something like 150 g's paid out for that fish...people I know are talking about not doing jody's tournaments any more...

2 nd hand info, cut about 10" long on side of fish, depending on who you ask 1" or 5+" deep - I talked to a guy that stuck his finger in this cut 5+"... Jody did not consult an igfa official, he made the call himself. - a very experienced owner/ capt thought it was more than likely from a prop and that an igfa official would have called it mutilated...I don't fault Jeff at all, but def worried about how Jody responded to the official challenge both in terms of communications and in terms of not consulting w/ an igfa official w/ over 150 k at stake...

I Fished a few IGFA Tournaments before and there cannot be any extra holes in fish! That means no bullet holes no holes from prop none PERIOD! They even inspect the gaff holes! Thats How the IGFA Tournaments are run! You fight the fish to the end! No Help from Da Cowboys with Da Guns and if you hit the fish with the prop you are Disqualified! If this is a IGFA Tournament WTF is going on here! I heard a story in Walkers Cay where a Shark Bit a tail on a 850+ Blue which would have Won and it was Disqualified! UNODARULES!!!

Looks like someone was getting ready to be head the marlin. Oh wait, can slide um in my boat and win 150G:rofl:. Instead of $1.50lb at the fish market, I mean REALLY people are gonna believe that is one prop mark?

Latest word is it may have been the trim tab that cut the fish, one thing is for sure, IMHO Jody / tournament director should have brought in an igfa official to make the call...no more of my money going into his tourneys...

I talked to guys that were there during the challenge and examined the fish and have not heard from anyone that an igfa official examined the fish and made a ruling based on seeing and examining the fish- if so, which igfa official in Kona?

well the facts as far as the igfa rule book read
    2. mutilation to the fish, priop to landing or boating the catch, caused by sharks, other fish, mammals,or propellers THAT REMOVE OR PENERATE THE FLESH.
that is the fact so if there was a "slash" from a "bad gaff" this is what the rule covers sorry but in my tourny it would have not made it.
