Cheap Thrills
A few weeks back I posted the marine corp emblem weave I did off a Doc Ski pattern that I converted to a tri-color weave for a first time customer and one of my EXCEL charter regulars, Dave Turley. Anyway, here is the weave with DII and the rod finished. The emblem came out good, a little more ob-long than I wanted, however if I do this weave again I'll try and make the red background thread tighter, too many gaps even after packing. The rod is a Batson Rainshadow RCLB80M 8' 20-50lb. rod with all Alps components. Dave wanted a chevron wrap in the Marine colors which I did between the foregrip and up under the stripper guide. I did a JT dragon scale in red metallic between the stripper and second guide and also did a chevron wrap under the second guide. I had decal connection make a gold "Semper FI" decal to go over the dragon scale in front of the marine corp emblem. The rest of the guides have a JT red dragon scale underwrap with a variation of the JT olive branch/saw blade. The final overwraps also features a JT olive branch/saw blade with a small gold/black fade.
