    Sat. Nov. 13
Well, after a couple of lackluster trips and poor water conditions, went out fishing the local reefs with my back up boat ho Big Olin (6' 5") and his best friend Hector. They were so excited about getting out, neither slept the night before and got to the meeting place 40 minutes early! Got a great load of squid from Nacho and headed off on flat calm seas and 62° water and nice sunny day. Started off with a steady pick of sandies all in the 14" range. Then the bigger models turned on going from 18" to 22" and 7 lbs. For a change I was the hot stick. But Hector landed the jackpot sandie that held up till the end of the day when I landed the largest model. Hector however took the overall jackpot with a 25", 10lb. sheephead. His personal best (being a fresh water fisherman for the most part). Now he's converted to saltwater fishing. Olin had a steady pick on the 17" sandies and one boat slot limit Calico 16-1/2". Released several under slot calicos and 20+ some legal sandies. Also caught 3 sheepheads, one large tree fish and a nice sculpin. Kept 14 larger version sandies along with the sheeps, tree, and sculpin.
Lost two BIG mystery fish. From the way they battled, felt like nice legal halibut. But since all fish were caught on 12 to 17 pound test, they broke me off after a nice fight!
They both had plenty of fish to fry for the "big fight night" that wound up being rather one sided.
Wind came up and ruined the almost perfect drifting conditions, so we called it a day just after 1 p.m.
Just another great day on the water with friends.
    Thanks,
    GARY

Saw you guys on the rinse rack at Davie's in Long Beach. Didn't realize you guys had that much fish. We were just admiring your alum boat just before DFG lady came by to inspect everyone's catch. You missed her by 2 minutes!
