What do you do when that dance and Jump? Do you try to keep pressure so they don't spit the hook?

I just let it do its thing and go back to winding when it's done. Worked out Saturday when I took the jackpot with this fish. 30# braid, 30# fluoro leader and a sardine on a Seigler SGN reel.

If there is a little slack in the line when they jump they can flick that hook out...Its happened to me in the past.

I was always taught wen I use to fish for tarpon in southern Florida that you fisht it normally while in the water and when it starts to come to the surface for a jump get prepared and point ur rod down towards the water when it jumps. It helps keep pressure and angle on the fish.

That always made sense to me and is almost instinct when it happens. You probably do the same thing and don't even think about it.

I do the opposite. Fish them with a 8-6 GUSA MegaMag and I point the rod at the sky and keep winding.......the parabolic bend in the rod keeps the line tight.

your mileage may vary. :D
