San Diego Jam knot buddy, cut and retie any knots that don't come out right. I've had my share of those damn curly cues when rushing a knot. =)

    or

The 2nd link is really good for inshore applications as the knot is virtually indiscernible when high frequency casting as you would working the kelp beds and structure. Takes a bit of practice on this one though......

But, "It's a knot that I(he) developed 19 years ago and it's finally catching on".....LOL

I like to keep things simple. John Collins/RP knot for the spectra connection and a Spangler knot for hooks and jigs. For the dropper loop I like the Roy Rose/Surgeons Loop with more turns to a palomar in mono or a double palomar in floro. For mono to floro I like a surgeons knot with a few extra turns.

Bimini to Albright on long topshots around 100 yards or more from the comfort of home. The John Collins looks appealing though. I like the Yucatan for short topshots. The San Diego for Irons and hooks on 20# and up. Below 20# I use a Trilene. Oddly enough there is an app for that, for IOS check out the "Animated Fishing Knots" app. Pretty good one that gets updates every now and then.

yeah yeah ,whatever. like i said i'm done with all that.
i was tying a bimini to reverse allbright first at (12- 15 years ago) turns out i was tying it backwards because the flouro was on the outside. real strong knot though, kinda sexy looking too. it was a bitch to tie in a panga though.
then i went to a uni to uni. easy to tie but way chunky with a 65% break strength.
    not up to my standards.
i start with a 6-7" flouro leader to braid because of how well bait swims with no heavy, bouyant mono to haul around so i need to retie braid to flouro fairly often as i use up the leader.
i think what some people refer to as a "topshot" would best be described as "using braid for backing on the reel" you get one advantage of braid (line capacity) but there are others.

Surgeons knot for flouro to mono
For attaching spectra to mono or flouro:
12 turn bimini in the spectra to a worm knot
    RP knot
    Bob Sands knot

The spectra to mono/flouro knots are similar how they coil up as they tighten. I have spent time as many have, practicing these knots. I have seen failures with all of them if they don't coil/cinch up right. All are very reliable when tied correctly.
