Rookie question, ok here it goes,
It depends of the day, if it is overcast, a mint color, yellow/green
something they can see better on a overcast day.
if it is a sunny day try the chrome jigs or white/blue,
pink and white or white/red head .. lighter colors or shinny jigs
darker colors for deeper water,dark green bird poop, dark orange/yellow etc
and yes they must swim or toss them at the recycle bin.
Not listed i have some pink and white tadys that i have cought many yellows on from the ridge to clemente, 3 cast 3 yellows in a row 2 septembers ago, the match squid very well, beyond that i dont think color truly matters if your on em, IMO. Try it next time pick up a off jig you eould not get, or fish one that you go to last...
On another note does Anyone remember that solid two weeks of yellowtail murder iut of dana point , they were the first on it up to 15 lbs, thousands of em off san o state beach cought... In tge mud where the sandbass beds...were must of been 2000 ish mabey 1999.... I remeber being out with tommy white on the Clemente being the first boat to catch em....MY FIRST IORN FISH... Never forget.... And i broke tommys deck light, i scrubed that boat all season and seacretly had to donate jack pot ever time out till it was paid off ... Hahaha .... I remeber san diego boats up her later that week... 2 day boats offthe coast of south orange county, and 1996 catchn yft 3 miles off dana head and dorado and albies at the 14 on half day boats... Man thoese were the days!!! Mabey this year could be that again......lots of memories out of dana point, those captains showed me my ropes, great guys out at dana!!!
