No to 80# spectra. Go with 65 or 50#.

Unless it’s strictly a surface iron reel go strait 65lb pro spec. 800h would be great 30-50

Great yoyo and bait reel. Load it with 50 pound spectra.

Thanks, want to make it as versatile as possible. I can use with my jig stick 20-50 but would work good for short yoyorod?

I just ordered one, going to load it up with 8 strand 60# Toro Tamer. It has a smaller diameter, I loaded 2 of my reels a couple years ago to see how I liked it. Fishes the same best I can tell. No problem tying knots either. Big difference was I could get an extra 50 yards on the same reel. My Mak 8 has 445 yards of TT 60# on it.

Think I was looking for something I can use to fish a little heavier than#30-40 if needed, shuld I get the 40n instead? The 25n was 165 new shipped. Thought that was good deal. Leme know if I should go bigger..

It’s too small to run 80lb braid. Go with the 40ld2 for 80.

What you have there is an awesome #40 reel. Filled with #65 spectra to a short flouro topshot is how I fish mine. Yes it has the drag to fish heavier, but that isn’t really it’s sweet spot. I have used mine to fish 50 as well, but only in an application where I’m busting a fish’s ass to get it off the bottom and not for prolonged battles. Enjoy the reel, it’s really in a class of its own when considering price.
The 40n is what you want for 80# braid with heavier topshots. At the price you paid, why not have both? I do
