Steve and I took his sled for an inshore run today, 6/20. It was my turn to drive, but I’m waiting for a pair of Timken Redi Sleeves to hopefully renew the sealing surface on my leaking axle spindles.

We launched at 0430 or so and had 21 fish before 0700. We should have quit there lol. Those first 21 fish were all quality. Calicos to 4+ pounds, sandies to 3+ pounds and a BIG red that was almost 5 pounds.

The west wind picked up and was capping by 8 or so. Not bad, just annoying. Anyways, we toured Izor’s, the mussel farm, the 150 and the shoe for a whopping 27 fish and threw in the towel sometime after noon. Water temps were 65.5 at Izor’s and a degree cooler at the shoe. There were a couple sporties at the mussel farm, so maybe yellows? We didn’t see any, or any signs of life at the 150. We saw TONS of stacked up bass all over the shoe, but we just could not get them to go. We didn’t see any bird activity and we were looking hard.

Most fish were caught on Kman Special swimbaits, with honorable mention going to silver JP jigs. All were released save for that big, juicy red. 21 fish were caught in the first couple hours, then 6 more were caught over the next 5 or so hours. That’s fishing.

Water was clear blue. Could not discern current after the west wind picked up.

Anyways, we didn’t sink the boat or get arrested or towed. It was a great day on the water. Thanks for the invite Steve. Hopefully the Timken Redi Sleeves fit my spindles and I’ll be back in business.

Looks like some quality fish, and some quality time on the water. 👍
