I would never have guessed you'd be fishing such heavy line with jigs out there...amazing. And then I also had the question of why you weren't fishing bait, which you answered.

Can you talk on the jig technique a bit? I don't have much experience here. Even with light irons, are you letting them sink and then bouncing/yo-yoing? Or sink and reel up fast through the target zone?

It's also really interesting how your chart reads vs other charts and sources!!!

Keep it going for us weekend warriors!

Haha yep, remember that vid, was not only confused by the line tossing, but also by the cut off sweatshirt. Both unacceptable

The yellowtail in Farnsworth are some of the meanest fish I've ever encountered. You better bring your heavy gear and make sure all your knots are tied well. They will kick your a$$ and leave you breathless by the time you get them in. My leader and line was all frayed when the fish headed straight for the rocks. Luckily, the line held up long enough for me to bring in two of the 30+ lb fish. Yellowtail put up a brutal fight when they get past 20 lbs. The fish in Farnsworth always head straight down to the rocks. If you don't turn their head or have line that can handle the rocks, you're out of luck. I had 80 lb spectra and 50 lb fluoro. The fluoro was all nicked but it survived. I would have lost both fish if I had mono.

If your throwing irons wouldn't straight braid be beneficial or will they not hit?

Its always better to have some shock absorption on the jigs using a leader instead of straight spectra. You get a wind knot on the spectra and its bye bye lure. Everyone has an opinion on the subject, but I prefer a topshot when I throw jigs also.

I only recently got that through my thick skull--what you said about "nothing I could do", because, there isn't anything you can do when they are that big and close to structure. If you lock the drag down, the hook tears out, or the line brakes. If too heavy line, no hookup. Sometimes you have no chance; last fish like that I hooked, my friend just said "you are f...d", and I was.

It's ok we got humbled at sci on that same grade of fish all in less than 100 feet over nasty structure on Monday. Let's just say we should've had close to 400 pounds headed to buyer but I had to cut the one single fish we got to the boat instead

I dived Farnsworth two weeks ago and was diving with TWO BSB that were at least 500 pounds and 8 feet long.

So they are definitely patrolling the pinnacles.
