When you get a chance to fish with one of the best blue water Captains on the west coast, on a state of the art bad ass fishing platform, and custom rods and reels, you don't pass up the opportunity.

Tuesday May 13th was the day, 6 focused anglers (and some rookies) joined Capt. Darrell Johnson aboard his 31' Ocean Master for a day of pure Westport Halibut and Lingcod destruction.

5am and this sweet ride was waiting to fly to the grounds.

It was lake Pacific off Westport as we caught a beautiful sunrise and a light offshore breeze

Guided to the target zone by the latest Raymarine electronics Darrell eased back the throttles and began dissecting the bottom detail on the new Chip Sonar. While Darrel set up our drift, deckhand Andy set everyone up with pipejigs. The crew aboard the "Tunacious" worked like a well oiled machine. Darrell called out "they're home!!" as he locked into the picture on his sonar.

Our first drop began instantly with lings slamming the pipes.

The fish hanging out on the continental shelf are so aggressive we even had a skate attack a smaller ling.

Far Corners Charters even has its own custom tackle made by Rainshadow which was paired with Avet LX reels that absolutely destroyed these fish. Darrell's clients get the best in ride, electronics, and custom tackle suited for all offshore species. When you put these together with this Capt's fish knowledge and experience you get BIG success.... And speaking of success, it didn't take long for the Halibut to start hitting the deck.

Rookie, and new to the NW James hooked the first one on his pipe jig and set the tone for the day. And they just kept coming.

Lings kept showing up as the day wore on

Multiple hook ups were common, with room to spread out all around the boat.

With heavy limits of halibut and lingcod we headed back to port and assess the damage.

And of course, the Money Shot:

Thank you Darrell and Andy for an awesome day on the water. You really put your clients on the quality fish.

Nice looking set up with that boat but might want to invest $40 for some "Team Rabud" scuppers

nice fish and nice looking rig, but what's up with the wading pool? I thought scuppers were to drain the deck, not flush the deck...

Yeah we had a scupper issue in the am, was a pretty easy fix once some of the fish chaos calmed down.

Who needs a live well, just let them swim around on deck. Quality fish there and fresh!

Don't forget your boots on that boat. Speaking of boats....what hull is that. Looks like a nice layout even with scupper issues.

Killer job on the Lings and Things. Wish we had a Pacific Halibut fishery down here.

That's great! Quality operation for sure. They were tied across the dock from us in WP and threw some extra ice our way a couple of weeks ago. Thanks again.
    Cheers
