Really enjoying your Live Updates Soda, thanks!
thanks for your continuing good reports soda. the big X is big league!
Can’t get enough of the fun times Soda brings to the game, party, fish. Dave inspired me to take my first safari last year and enjoy discussing his many travels and exploits. Y’all just jealous you don’t get out and about like Mr Pop does.
Glad to hear the reports because going out on "that other boat" Feb 1st.
Love the play by play. Feel like I am on the boat with everyone
Weather has come down. Just ate lunch now it’s movie time. Very relaxing day here on the BIG X. We’re steaming our way to a other new and exciting fishing destination. More to come.
Thank You David R. for taking the time to write up your adventures.. Very enjoyable and very much appreciated.
Keep on keeping ON Mr. Pop! Thanks for sharing your trip with all of us stuck on land, or those about to step onto a deck...…..it's unreal having such first hand live accounting!! Good Luck rest of trip David, rope em!
Well internet service has been out due to our southern area we fished. Fishing was good at times but also had its slow times. We scored a few more cows and caught some more wahoo. Tuna were in the mixed bag going 70-240 with the average sitting right around the 100 lb mark. Weather has been really great this trip. There we’re also some fish that won there freedom to live a other day. I myself had a monster that bent a 6/0 super mutu hook. I was in the water early and used my 130 Big gear but that tuna won that battle. We’ll I did have a cow hit the deck for me the day before going 240 caught on 100 fluro topshot from basil. I myself did bad on the wahoo fishing going 0/5. O well I had my limit at the rocks and we’re going back. Most did great again the JRI and captain jimmy bombs were the ticket to have. More to come as we’re heading north for our final day of fishing. Today we will be breaking down our tuna gear and watching movies- tv and catching up on some much needed rest. I declare national nap day today. .
Hi David. Did the Super Mutu bend or break? Modified circle caught some bone instead of finding the sweet spot.
congrats to all on a great trip.
Bill the super mutu bent and the shank of the hook broke.
just abad hook
Traveling day with smooth seas. It’s movie day here on the BIG X. Everyone is relaxing and getting ready for wahoo fishing tomorrow to finish up our 16 day fishing adventure.
T-minus 3.5 hours till you’re going to hear GOING OUT-LOW BRIDGE. always good to call out when casting your go to wahoo lures. This group has safety down while having fun. Almost time for breakfast then heading out on deck to rig up my wahoo gear. I will hook up A couple of JRI Jigs and a bait outfit. On the jigs I like to use a 3 feet fluro 130 leader. Not really a fan of wire. You will loose more jigs but you’re going to get way more bites. Okay time for breakfast then time to play with some wahoo. Much more to come here on the BIG X. Stay tuned.
T-minus 1.5 hours till we hit the rocks. Watch out you toothy wahoo we’re comming for ya with bombs at the ready.
wind through the bite soda!
Must be biting, it’s almost 10am and no report??? Not like we aren’t checking twice a day to see what’s happening ...
Quick update. A nice stop on 9 very nice grade wahoo. A little slow than the last time we were here but putting some skinnies on the BIG X. We have right around 15 wahoo so far. Took a look at the bank near the rocks. Nothing there.
The rocks were not as good to us as they were on the way down. We scored right around 35 wahoo yesterday. Most on the troll. They were around they just had locked jaws. Still a great day with calm seas. We might fish tomorrow for a couple of hours but that’s still up in the air. Most everyone has broken down their rods and reels and has a rod at the ready if we make a stop on yellows. Today on the BIG X we’re all just relaxing. Weather remains great but rain and wind when we return on Thursday morning. Weather reports change and the captain has a plan if the weather is really snotty. More to come on that later.
