EXCEL LIMITED LOAD 10 DAY GALLAGHER/BOB SANDS TACKLE IN AUGUST 1 SPOT OPEN

Good afternoon all,

Hope everyone is having a great season.. The limited load, Gallagher charter is now the Gallagher/Bob Sands Tackle Alijos or bust charter on the big Beautiful Excel.. We depart on August 29 and return Sept. 8 2023... AND we have one rare and unusual opening... I have lost track of how many years we have been doing the Gallagher charter but I think it is around 25 years... We have an amazing group of fisherfolk who just love to have a great time, fish, laugh and love being on the water.. Most folks who come aboard renew for the following year as they have such a great time... We are not a cliquish group rather once you are in you are not exempt from the fun, camaraderie and maybe a few hijinx along the way.. This is also a trip where half the group is sober and half is not therefore, you are free to imbibe or not. Nobody judges or gives a darn one way or another as long as nobody gets drunk.. That is highly frowned upon..

This is always a mixed bag type trip where we target our favorite place, Alijos Rocks, as long as mother nature agrees.. We generally fish the Rocks and Ridge targeting Wahoo, Wahoo, Wahoo and Tuna.. We then make our way up fishing Yellowtail, Dorado, Grouper and maybe a few hours on Reds.. We then make our way up to the Bluefin grounds for a day or two of targeting the big boys... I am told our charter is one of the most fun and successful of the year which is why it is mostly booked years in advance.

If anyone would like to join us please call Jason at the Excel front office and get your monies in right away... I do expect this spot to fill reasonably quickly... I hope to see you out there.

Thought of Pat last night. The last trip I did with him was the limited load February 2022.
He was tough as nails on that trip.

One day I am up top listening to music smoking a wonderful EP Carillo and Pat shows up with a legit box of Montecristo #2 Habanos.

He promptly handed me one and a few other people up there.

On the ride home he put the box on the table and told me to enjoy the remainder. There were about 10 remaining.

Smoked the last of the "Peaches" batch last night.

It was great and had special meaning. Not because of who it came from but, the circumstances he was dealing with. Yet, he made time to share something special with a bunch of us and me and BJ Beck in particular.

Hi John,

Thank You sir. That is a wonderful story about Pat.. I miss him every day... He really could be sweet as farm fresh peaches but he could also be a real prick.. .. I am glad you got him as peaches... Unfortunately Pat could not smoke anymore for the last several years of his life.. He and I, for decades during travel days or evenings after fishing, or even during fishing, would have a smoke and a drink (Pat did not drink alcohol which meant there was more Scotch for me after the fishing part of the day was done... ).

The good news is there will soon be a permanent United Composites USA, custom wrapped, dedicated Peaches 10E rod, that can be used by anyone coming on board the Big and Beautiful Excel.. This is my gift to the big X as a remembrance of my dear friend Patrick..

Thank You again John for sparking a few more memories of Patrick..
