Fished Neah Bay 6/30-7/1 and again 7/4-7/8, fished the usual spots along the beach from mushroom rock down to Cape Alva with zero salmon to be had, kinda odd as it usually kicks off this time of year. Ran across to Canada to fish in front of Camper Creek just west of Port Renfrew. Man was that the right call, epic fishing on the beach! We deploy our rivers inlet setup over there, 6 BC Rods with islander reels and 8oz leads 8 blue label cut plugs around the boat at 10 pulls. Fished in 35-50ft of water, some pretty epic fishing in the mornings and fairly consistent throughout the day. And talk about perfect weather, not a swell all weekend and the wind was non existent, even wore shorts and flip flops during the day. Got the girls out and they got to lay it into some nice 20lb+ fish. Coolers are full of fish, biggest we kept was around 30lbs, saw a 40lber caught right next to us with a handful of others in the 30lb class. A few of our fish were white, so there are some Frazier river fish moving through. And the most amount of bait I’ve seen in my life, we trolled through boiling schools of red label herring all weekend. Hiked out to cape flattery, ran into some fellow BDers (Cornfed, Juicebox, Goodwin Boys, Dave Johnson, Duramaxx to name a few), always good to see these guys. watched the epic firework show in Neah Bay, all around an awesome time.

Here’s some fish porn from the weekend:

Renfrew... but Mike also should mention how much the Canadians love us Americans.
We made so many new friends over the last four days!
Some of them even encouraged Mike to learn how to fish. Eh.

Some of the old salts that fish the spot regularly put the screws to some nice fish. I’ll say this, the guys that we’re mooching we’re into more better quality fish than the guys who were trolling flashers and hardware off the riggers. We even turn the big boy transducers off and tune the internal chirp ducers way down. Seems to make a difference in shallow water. I had lunch with the president of airman technologies at the nmea conference last summer and he said those big 1kw ducers can actually deter fish in shallow waters. Just some food for thought.

I HATE LAND, READY TO GO BACK OUT NOW

Way to go get them Mike. Great job. Gotta love shallow water king fishing. I'm jealous as hell looking at those pics. And I absolutely love eating the Frasier River white kings. God they're good.
