First day of fishing with a guide on the Gunnison River in Colorado. He’s concerned that the five-weight rod that I built for the trip may not handle the big browns on the Gunnison. First cast brings in a double for us including this big guy! That Matrix MA-F905-4 has some backbone!

Just a few hours down the road from me! Congrats on a good trip.

Got a fly-fishing buddy in MT that fishes similarly sized trout. We went with a 7wt for his last rod but a 5'll do just fine, obviously. I prefer big fish so I stick to chuckin' nightcrawlers. :p

Great design on the fly rod! I though of doing something similar to the Matrix but i was hesitant to cover the carbon twill. You definitely did that rod justice. Great job breaking in the new rod.
