Engines hitting the dyno!

First engine hit the dyno today. James at Bostick Racing/Marine Engines in Yuma is doing an amazing job. The goal was to build matching 5.7's with forged pistons, hydraulic roller cams, roller tip rockers, balanced, etc. I wanted higher quality internals than the ones I saw being sold online as marine crate engines, James understood and went to work. Very happy with the outcome. Here's engine 1 dyno videos ... on to engine 2!

Peak numbers:
Engine A: 366.1hp / 426.7tq
Engine B: 365.4hp / 425.3tq

at 3000 rpm:
Engine A: 228.0hp / 397.4tq
Engine B: 227.8hp / 395.9tq

Super happy with results and them being so matched. Couldn't have asked for anything more.

no, just .030 over 350's ... 355's

The goal was to build matching 350's with 300-350hp so I would have quality engines that will last, that are matched & that won't kill the 280 outdrives.

Grant told me that the drives were rated at 300hp max, so I was more concerned about building them for 3000rpms with good torque, which we achieved. I'll never reach the rpm's for peak HP numbers ... so they are perfect for what I'm looking for.

On top of that, I've worked with James Bostick as an engine builder for 15+ years, so trusting him to build these was a no brainer instead of buying remanufactured engines from a company that is more of a production line. I'm a little picky and seeing the step by step build from teardown to the valve jobs to balancing everything to assembly and finally seeing them run on the dyno. The peace of mind that comes from that for me was worth the wait.

I think you can just declare them and pay the taxes. He doesn't have to paint them and make them all pretty, so you could say they are used to declare like a cost of $800/ea ... wouldn't be that much then. You can paint once across the border.
