Any electricians out there that service South OC?

I’ve got a garage fridge that is tripping the GFI outlet.

if its an older fridge its going bad. has your bill seemed to be going up over the last few months? the gfi could be going out and is easy to replace on your own. i would try running a could to another outlet not in the garage and see if it holds. hope that helps

It was an old fridge. I just replaced it with a brand new fridge. The new fridge is tripping the GFI too.

I haven’t noticed any significant changes in my electric bill. I could try replacing the GFI, but it’s only 3 years old.

run the new one from somewhere else for a bit to see what happens. is there anything else plugged in pass the gfi? gfi normally last long then 3 year but its cheap fix if it is that.

I’d have tried replacing the outlet for $ before replacing the fridge for $$$!

I had a big Best Buy GC so the new fridge only cost me $200 outta pocket. The old one was oooold and getting tired anyways.

I have been a licensed electrician for 40 years so kind of know what I'm talking about . GFCI outlets fail, it's common. Even new out of the box sometimes. What do you expect for ~$8? I'd replace it and see what happens. Also, did this just start happening when all this hard rain showed up? Some are more sensitive to moisture in the air than others.

Thanks. Sounds like replacing the GFI is my project for the day.

No, this started before we got any wet weather.

Would it be ok to replace the GFI with a standard outlet, or is that a bad idea?

Thanks again.
