I went out with Manny to Corbetena on the 4th. Got a big Cubera, similar to that in the picture above, on the drift with a dead skipjack. Also got a nice Mahi trolling a dead Caballito. One small snapper on the jig and a ton of skipjack. Great day with Manny, Marcos and Chino. Cant wait to get back out with Manny and crew!

What’s the trick to catching those Cuberas?
Sounds like drifting dead skippies works. Weighted or flylined? Any preferred depth or just look for structure.

Just look for structure, around Corbetena, or banco.. 85ft to 140ft..
I prefer doing live skipjacks, but death are just fine too..
    No weight in necessary..

Thanks for your help Manny. You always seem to have it dialed in. I really want to catch one of these bad boys on my boat.

I heard it’s harder to do when there a fast drift. I guess, the unweighted skippies wouldn’t get down to the zone.
