    Hey guys,

Signed up for the El Doarado
Overnighter to San Nic Mon night. Showed up around 7 to find out that the boat would be a little late due to a fuel stop. Only a couple of guys there so was looking like a light load. 20181112_190847_001.jpg
Ended up with about 15 guys on the boat so plenty of room at the rail. Haven't been on the boat for a couple of years so it was nice to find that it's been cleaned up nicely. 20181112_212237.jpg 20181112_212543.jpg 20181112_213757.jpg 20181112_213805.jpg
Capt Jeff was driving (Josh 2nd). On deck were Barron and Chad. In the galley was Brian. Hit the bunks and headed out to the island. We arrived around 4 in the morning and set up on a spot. Jeff suggested using a heavy dropper loop about 5' up from the bottom as they had gotten some yellowtail in the dark the day before. Lines went down and it was pretty quiet until the sunrise with an occasional whitefish. 20181113_061108.jpg 20181113_061121.jpg 20181113_055511.jpg
After the beautiful sunrise, Jeff made a short move and some nice fish started coming up. Bigger whitefish started coming aboard and I got a tug from a nice goat! 20181113_150040.jpg
One of the guys fishing a sliding sinker hooks up with a nicer fish and soon we had our first yellowtail on board. (About 15lbs). I switched over to a 1/2oz slider and 30lb line and soon had some nicer whitefish coming up. 20181113_083607.jpg
The whitefish went wide open with the occasional sheep head and blue bass. No more yellows so we made a move out to deeper water. I grabbed my slow pitch outfit and the first couple of drops resulted in some blue bass, a nice chuckle, and a nicer red. I was up in the bow and I heard commotion in the back. Two nice yellows had been hooked up on dropper loops and the guys were coming up to the bow. I reeled up and about of their way as the 18lb class fish were both gaffed. A third fish was hooked but a seal stole it. Bummer. I thought we were fishing a rockfish spot ! Switched back to a dropper on 30lb while Jeff swung back to drift the spot again. First drop I got bit and thought I had the right kind at first with the tail beats. As the fish came up I knew it was one of the nicer goats. Barron gaffes it and an nice 13 pounder hit the deck 20181113_142609.jpg
Personal best Sheephead for me so I was stoked. Jeff came down and got his brother 20181113_102219.jpg 20181113_075931.jpg
The quality fish continued to come drift after drift at different spots. Reds, Goats,Rockfih. 20181113_142530.jpg 20181113_142710.jpg
No more yellows but we definitely filled the sacks. The weather was beautiful the whole time with just enough wind for a good drift (5-10kts) No tangles to speak of due to the light crowd and the crew was great. We had live squid (5-8") I was using an Aki Twist 5/0 which kept me away from some of the smaller fish. We are still prob 1.5-2 hrs away from the dock. Get out there if you can. Enjoy !

I was out over the weekend and we headed home at 12:30 and got back to the dock at 7:30.
The boat is really as is the crew. My only complaint is the bunks are tiny. I still plan on going out again next month to get some rock fish.

Yea we started heading back a little after 12 noon (started fishing at around 4:30). I've never been on a boat that stayed any later than 1pm as it's about a 7 hour ride. However, that's plenty of time to load up on fish.

Yea. There are no double wide bunks in the passenger section as far as I could see. They are about 6'2" long so if you are really tall, you might have to sleep in a yoga position or something :p:

Always loved fishing that boat especially bwhen tj was captain. Did they raise the price? Could have sworn it was 150 before and they would do the 100 dollar cap special once in a whole

Awesome sack full of white meat! I've been wanting to ride the El Dorado, but haven't had a chance. Do they have a RSW? Do they use it for these San Nick trips?
