Does anybody know somebody that can do a "fix" on a 15 yr old Edelbrock 4B that's been sitting for a year ?
Recently went for that "it's been too long, gotta start her up".
Well, things were going good enough until I saw this gas leak where my finger is pointing.(should be 1st pic)
In all my years of backyard wrench turning,I could never get a carb back together ! You know the story...lil springs flying around, jets or "whatever that blur was" rolling off the workbench !

I am not a mechanic and thereby not an expert, but......I have an old boat that sits for 7 months out of the year and the first time I fire it up every spring it leaks gas at a pretty good clip. I typically keep an eye on it and by the next day the leak stops. The seals in those carburetors dry out and often need to be soaked in a little gasoline so they can swell up and get a good seal.

Yes this can be dangerous so use caution and see if the seals will swell up after a day of being wet.

Sometimes when I let my old Buick sit to long I’ll get a leak because the floats are stuck. I give a little tap with a screwdriver and try again. Usually clears up.
As stated above, just keep an eye on it while it’s running … and if it’s to sketchy then stop and rebuild.
    Good luck

    Stuck bowl,dried out gaskets...very possible.

( Hey ! What happen to the BD emojis??? Not that stupid stuff I see )
Anyhow,Edelbrock has a video about how easy it is to remove top, flip it over, floats are right there. (Can ya just hear lil springs or other "no see ums-never find ems" go flying !

makes sense ! There was a lot of gas in the manifold pockets, more gas than what ya think for something internal.
Didn't get to putz with it yesterday,,,probably today.

    Well...chalk up another...can't figure it.
So I had some time to troubleshoot this no start deal.
I pull a plug, looks good, gonna check for spark while looking for carb leak,(totally safe, drivers side-pass side),good spark not feeling-seeing any leak.plug reinstalled, checked plug wires to plug n cap,,, all good.
Lil starting fluid, few pumps...fired right up ! Got a doughnut gasket dried up needs replaced (always fun!),PB Blaster soak as we speak.Gotta practice clutch/brake/gas with 1 leg,HP clutch, super hard pedal but away we go ?!!
