Calico is one of the best eating fish we have. With that said, never had trigger fish.

Trigger fish on the right. That being said, I have never caught or eaten a trigger. My calico fillets look like the ones on the left. Maybe I just need a new knife. Lol

I'm sure the suspense was killing some of you.

First; the taste test. As pacifscout stated, Luca did win, she ate 4 small chunks of fish. I realize taste is all about personal preference. Both Muddy and myself preferred the Calico fried in a taco. The Trigger had a good flavor, however a little on the fibrous/tougher side. I'm guessing on the grill it would be better or as paddyman1 said, ceviche-style.

What I'm really wondering is why Triggers are not taking over all the reefs and rock spots. Their like a Sargo Perch on steroids! Head as hard as a rock, teeth that can crush anything, an outer armor for protection against predators and fins built for speed. They also have a tiny flap for a gill, bizarre.

Second: those of you who guessed the Trigger was on the left side or Calico on the right side were correct, congratulations, you win nothing except the satisfaction that you know your fillets. Maybe Ali will throw in some BD swag. LOL

    Thanks for playing!
