Marc here from Buena Vista Beach Resort, with the latest on the action here in the East Cape. We’re experiencing typical August weather conditions right now, with temperatures in the 90’s, high humidity and light rain, along with water temps reading at 88-90 degrees. The overall bite has started to pick up, as blue water is showing thru-out the area. Marlin are still the main stay of the action, with resort boats encountering Blues and Stripers, along with a few Sails as well.

Tuna action has started to improve, with larger fish up to 60 lbs. starting to show and our boats are finding them within 30 miles of the resort, under the Porpoise schools. Wahoo counts are also getting better, with 30-50 lb. class fish being the norm. Dorado, I’m sorry to say, are still a no-show. This season, as last, has definitely been affected by El Nino and inconsistency is an apt description of our season so far. Fishing is good, just not what we’ve come to expect here in the East Cape. We’ll see how the rest of the season plays out. That’s it for today. Stay tuned for our next report from Buena Vista Beach Resort, where you’ll always find the best Fishing/Room rates available in the East Cape. Until then…keep it tight!
