I wanted to take the Lucky Dog out to get the cobwebs off. Took a couple of poles in case I wanted to fish. The water was calm and 61. I drifted the artificial reef #2 out of O'side. I got out kind of late and was checking the best bite time on the solunar tables. It said 12 noon and just then my reel goes off. I was drifting a b-52 with frozen squid strip using a Avet SX with 20 lb. It felt very heavy, but not really running. I knew it must be a halibut by the head shakes. I brought it up slowly and grabbed a net to be ready. when it came into view I knew the net wasnt big enough. I grabbed a gaff and made sure not to lift the head out of the water. I didnt sink the gaff very well the first time and he took off running. I got him good the second time. It was good way to end 2011 of fishing. Merry Christmas everyone.

Very very nice fish and congrats. Often with a big boy like that there is drama at gaff time.
