I hate wearing ear plugs when i surf, mainly because I can't hear as well and it freaks me out. A while back I saw an ad for a brand of ear plugs that keeps water out but doesn't restrict hearing as much. The ad was in Surfer Mag's gear guide, I want to say within a year. The plugs were red and clear colored and fit over behind the ear. I can't find them on the internet anywhere. Can someone help me find them? thanks.

Ear plugs for surfing?..........never heard of that? I surfed from 65 to 88 and never wore them.

i would start by contacting the magazine's advertising dept. and ask there. I use plugs for swimming and surfing. have for years since '78 and still going. hearing is something worth the few dollars protecting. let us know what you find.

Mac's Aqua Block earplugs work the best for me. Get the purple vs. clear. They are not as easy to lose. I wear them everyday.

sounds like Doc's Pro Plugs. They come in red, with no holes, and clear with holes. The clear have a very small amount of hearing loss that you might not even notice, since sound carries on water. They have a 30lb mono connection between plugs. I preferred it when the mono went to a large rubberband for around the neck...tight lines and big swacks...:rofl::rofl:

doc''s are #1 but have used others that are silicon putty that keep most everything out.use them .i had my ear drilled because of surfers ear .no biggie but they do cut your ear off from the back so they can get in there and enlarge the canal then sew your ear back on ,out of water 4-6 weeks which at the time was very cruel and unusual punishment for not heeding the warnings of ear infections , loss of hearing , btw dr said there was a slight chance of facial paralisis from nerve damage close to the cutting zone...2 cents worth of experience :hali_olutta:

Just use the free ones scattered all over the beach. Kool Mild filters work good...Marlboro Lights filters come in a close second.

any surf shop should carry ear plugs...worth using especially if you wanna avoid surfers ear and getting your ears drilled...

I just found out i'm starting to get surfers ear and have been advised to wear ear plugs to keep it from getting worse
