Nomad reps supposed to be at Tackle Day this Saturday. I’m intrigued by the MadScad as a possible troller. We’ll see

In my dreams!
My experience with Nomad DTX (Gen 2) is all positive. I rigged it with 3 feet of 200# Izor mono. After the first 3 wahoo it had a little difficulty staying in the water, mostly due to trolling speed. Easy fix was a 3-4 oz slider just ahead of the swivel. The 6th wahoo ripped the rear hook wire out of the body but the wire and hook held. Mono was never nicked at all----the reason was simple. Wahoo strike at the body to cut their prey in half. The DTX is attached ahead of the body and is likely ahead of the strike zone in most cases. Next time I'm just going to tie (3-turn uni) the DTX directly to 130mono on my trolling rod. Watching others using DTX on same trip, I noticed that they generally didn't run well when rigged with wire. Pretty sure the majority of short strikes were YFT.

Is the damage to these fish killers likely done when the fish hits the deck and thrashes around.?

This one has caught two black grouper and some jacks . Still runs good to 10knots ... but I have yet to cross Paths with a wahoo with it . The lure seems pretty sturdy to me .. by what’s been said I guess I have the gen 2 . Hopefully the improvements have been made .

But honestly compared to what I’ve paid for intruders, Bonita’s, marauders , and the rest If it catches one wahoo per 35.00 i wouldn’t be happy but not sad either .

Where was your swivel? At the lip or 3 feet from the lure?

Maybe the new 2nd generation of lures will run better.
I think all of the ones sold in the US are the 2nd generation. The 1st time I heard of them or saw them was at the Long Beach Fred Hall Show back in early March. Since then you can get them all over.

From Nomad rep. if the lure came with a split ring on the lip it is a 2nd generation.

Did you crimp or tie the 200# mono?

BD’er’s,

Just got back from a 10 day on the X, I used the Nomad DTX on everyone of my troll turns and went four for four!!!
These things are bad ass!
Because they swim deeper than the Marauders and the Yozuri’s they need to be fished in the center of the stern.
The crew had NO problem with me using the DTX!
Good luck.

With the success you had how did you rig them and what was your hot color?

So, the Nomad rep table had some on display including the 160 gram Deep Madscad, Pink Mackerel. Looked for one for sale, nobody had it. Asked one of the two guys to help me out and he walked the lure over to the Fisherman's Landing outside display and I bought it from them.

Will have the guys on the boat rig it with wire, fish it, hope to catch a Wahoo. I guess it swims best on a longer line so I'll let it out a ways see what happens. I'll get back to you...

Been playing around with some rigging options. Leader for this 200mm minnow is 210lb Sunline big game shock leader.
