Strange how you can continue to learn stuff about your kids as they mature and grow older. My 27 YO baby boy impressed the hell out of me - never knew he had this artistic tendency in him. We are finally getting together for a longer trip this summer (AA - 6 day), and in the hopes of hitting Guadalupe, decided we needed a couple of 50-60 rods. When discussing "buy em" or "wrap em", Chuck was all about doing our own. I had wrapped quite a few back in the day growing up in SD and later working the boats in the late 80's, so with some much appreciated guidance and tutorials from some of you guys on here (many thanks timmyd3853 and JTrelikes) , we got materials procured and Chuck went to work. We worked together on the grip / reel seat assembly, but the design and wrapping was all his work. Design is based on his time in the Marine Corps. Other than a simple freshwater bass rod he wrapped when he was 11 YO, this is only other custom rod. Color me impressed. I am sure there will be more in the future. Looking forward to having a cooperative YFT put a bend in it for him this July.
