I suspect I just am not good at finding things, but: On my new 30 SEaII, I thought when I unscrewed the drag adjustment knob it would come off, allowing me to remove the spool. Mine does not. Removed the right side plate, along with the spool. What is next (besides sending it to to a pro)?

If the right side and spool was out of the of the frame when you tried to unscrew the drag knob, thinking maybe the spool spindle was turning also. The spindle pin on the left side of the spindle, sits in the left side frame to prevent the spindle from turning. Reinstall the right side/spool. No need to screw the right side, just make sure the spindle pin is installed on the pin and the pin is in the proper slot on the left side. Turn the drag knob. Or....with the right side/spool out, turn the drag knob while holding the spindle(left side of spool) with fingers or a plier.
