8/14 - With the kids all fired up to catch a dorado we hit the the bait dock at 5:30 for a beat 1/2 scope and plotted a course between the 14 / 267. Ran East once around the high spots. Water was glass, blue, and clean. Could not find a legit paddy to save my life. Found a small piece of bull kelp that had a few small Doritos that did not want to bite. Started to curl it back to the beach found a little mako finning. Well placed cast by my son and we had a 50lber doing backflips on 20lb. 5 mins later boatside hook pulled for the perfect release. Back on the beach bass bit the plastics and some bait. 30+ released. Bummed we did not catch and dorado but kid is fired up to bait a marlin or Elvis when the time comes. Always an adventure.
