SHHHHHHHH. The belle is one of the best kept Secrets in SD for killing fish. Let the crowds keep filling up the other boats. :D

The picture might not tell the whole story. We waved a sporty in once on a monster loaded Kelp and as soon as they came over they all hooked up and made their day. Later they called us over and passed us burgers and beers in bags on a gaff. Awesome day.

Stuff like this just ruins the whole ocean fishing experience. We’ve just got too many people in SoCal.

Wow, big change! About two years ago, the Mission Belle intentionally ran me off the road. Skipper thought I was shadowing his boat near S. Coronado Island. I backed down to avoid a very possible head-on collision as MB Skipper yelled at me from bridge portal, "Stop following me!". Yes, they passed that close. Good change!

As long as everyone is fishing up an down on small grade fish it isn't that big a deal as long as the passengers are behaving. It looks a lot like the private boater was probably there at the same time as the sports the crew's were probably laughing at the absurdity and just don't care looks like the fish were under all of them so why move?

Well, maybe he was close only long enough to pay. (Mission Belle is obviously a class act, but they still gotta charge for the food, I think.) Probably pulled away immediately afterwards and waited for the burger in a bag to float past.

California is a special kind of shitshow when it comes to private boaters. The rudeness, inconsiderate behavior and outright dangerous driving goes along with our traffic. You don't see this type of kook skiff behavior anywhere else Socal has a lot of people on the water who literally went out and bought a boat, 6 rods, some jigs and forgot to buy a clue on how to use any of it.

You know it’s possible the mission belle crew knows the people on the private boat. It’s not a mutually exclusive deal. I’ve been on a cattle boat that was yelling at a guy for getting too close until they realized they knew the guy, it went from hostile to “hey get closer” in a second.

On the other hand, I'm fishing inshore one time and a charter boat from Dana Point sidles up to me about 20 - 30 feet out.

We're the only two boats in the area and captain Yahoo wants to fish right over the spot I was on. Maybe he thought I found the magic bass portal but he just kept creeping up to me. He was close enough that I could almost get splashed by his anchor when they let it out.

I moved once and moved permanently a second time when he dropped anchor. I went home thinking how much better his life is than mine.
