image.jpg image.jpg Went to the 101 area fishing for yellow fin tuna last week. There were about a dozen boats including the Mission Belle. Everybody kept their distance from the Mission Belle except the noble " Serenity at Sea." He drifted into their stern and port side not once but three times? He was oblivious to his surroundings and just kept on a fishin!!!! Good times!!!

The captain and crew the Mission Belle are remarkably patient with morons like this. I've seen it over again. Most captains would be yelling hosing these guys down with the washout at that distance, but the MB crew are super polite to even the most helpless kooks.

I heard one of the passengers yell at him to swing his pole over to him so he could butt hook a dine for him.

That’s good. It’s professional, sometimes the industry needs more of that. Retaliation isn’t going to cure stupid so might as well take the high road.

Way to save on chumming... I’m surprised the guys in the bow weren’t slinging iron at the guy.

Wow...that is insane. Had a big yacht do that to me when I was fishing a parking lot paddy in my small boat several years ago. I could touch his boat with my pole.

The crew and passengers were so calm about that....Could it be possible that the guy knew the Captain and was picking up a food order? I know a Captain that will do this for his close fishing buddies. Otherwise, I would figure people would lose their shit if this was a complete clueless stranger that drifted up on them like that.

Slinging an iron ... that's just so ignorant to do NO fish is worth that. I feel sorry for the guy who thinks slinging an iron would solve anything.

Captain Steve Peterson and Tony Sotello, not to mention Karen and Brian the deckhands plus Cassie in the galley. Solid and personable crew to fish with and can find the biting fish. The Belle isn't the fastest boat in SD but I've had plenty of good memories of fishing and catching on her, solo or with friends. Nice to see Steve up in the wheelhouse again after having lower back problems last season...

its possible the private boat called in the nla and then they called in the mb...who knows but yeah if that was some dork getting that close id brail a scoop in his boat.
that very thing hasppened while on anchor at the middle grounds one time....they ignored our resquests to back off 40 yards at least and they wouldn't look at us...they were so close we brailed a scoop of anchovis...mostly dead in their hatch on the foredeck

Its great to hear the mission belle crew had the class to not blow up at the private boat. Good on them.

Not like that. They usually bag the burgers then put in another bag and blow it up. Toss it over and let it drift.
