I'm glad to hear Beau is going to be OK, I'm also glad to hear the other dog is no longer around to attack any other dogs, too bad the owner didn't join him. There are no bad dogs just bad dog owners. Pit's are working dogs and we see them all the time at dog shows. These dogs are sweet, gentle and kind dogs.

Here is the best way to break up a dog fight. If a dog attacks your dog drop your leash and grab the attacking dog by the back legs, it's important to grab BOTH legs at the same time and lift the legs off the ground as high as you can. This will cause the dog to loose its balance and 99% of the time to release it's grip on your dog. If he does not release it's grip on your dog spread the legs like you are trying to crack a wish bone, He will let go. DO NOT LET GO of the dog, he is likely to attack you. Have someone else throw a leash on the attacking dog and place their foot on the leash pinning the dogs head to the ground. It sound brutal but it works.

I had saw a neighbors dog attack his young niece the dog was about to kill the little girl. I used this method and he released her. We got the dog into the chain link kennel and called 911. The little girl spent two weeks in the hospital. The dog was so mean the animal control agent put him down with a trank gun. He was afraid to open the gate.

I hope none of you reading this ever have the opportunity to use it.

i had to put a lab down for a ear infection. the meds the vet gave him for it caused liver failure. but it was 4 months after the vet gave him the meds. if it was me, i'd forget the whole thing if the owner of the other dog had no contact info on me.

You don't need a reason to put your own dog or cat down...... period.....

You tell the vet to put it down and they have to do it.....or put it down yourself (humanely) no matter how healthy/normal it is. Pets are considered no different than livestock.

Like someone else said...... if you have a dog that is not contained it needs to be leashed....period.... no exceptions no matter how friendly you think it is or no matter how small except when in a dog park.....and those IMO are a bad idea.....

We have a dog that always gets infections from being under water......easy to tell by the smell off the dogs head.....easy to cure as well; cream from the Vet and it will go away. At no time did the Vet tell me this could be life threating.

I smell a skunk from the OP

    Good luck

If the dog is clear of rabies, maybe you could ask the owner if you can have it for a chew toy for Beau. What a low life POS this guy is.......

The other dog probably had something like vestibular disease which causes the dog to lose its balance, cock its head to one side and from all appearances the dog looks like it had a stroke. the symptoms of this disease goes away on it's own about 2 weeks for most dogs. The numbers are shocking how many people needlessly put their dogs down due to this temporary ailment.

Yep, he is covering his ass. If he says he is putting it down because it's "vicious", or a dangerous, he opens himself up for possible further legal issues from you. So he goes with the "ear infections" as the reason for the decision to destroy the dog.

I had a Chow and it bit someone and animal control placed it under quarantine. When I went to claim my dog they stated that I needed an insurance/bond on the dog because he was reported as “vicious”. I couldn’t come up with the bound so the other option they gave me was to put him down.

I would insist on contacting the dog owner and request a vet report that states that the dog had water in its ear and therefore, had to put it down, It does sound fishy!
