DODO MADNESS 8/5/06

Just got in from Oceanside with Slayer, and a friend on his 25' skippy who brought out another friend, Norm, and his two boys, 12 and 10.
Were thinking, kinda crowded dont ya think, but hey lets show the boys a great time.
Left harbor at 6:30am headed out about 2 miles, water was blue and dropped in trollers with deep diver rapala brite colored with yellow blue and yosuri deep diver dark P&B no hits.
But the channel island chovie gets picked up and gone, shark.
This is about 15 plus out on a SW.
We then go south to a paddy with a boat leaving and a boat drifting away.
We slid up about 100 feet plus and drift by. small yellowtail 8 lbs and then boom DODOS everywhere, triple hook up Norm and Slayer get'em in and I get chewed off. Older boy gets his first DODO at this Paddy.
We moved inland after all calmed down and saw a few whales cruseing, went to show the boys and found a paddy DODO Madness, five way hook up 15 lb plus dodos and the younger boy gets his fisrt dodo and I get chewd off again waiting for the gaf. Finally ol Rosser puts one in the boat.
7 DODOS
1 yellow tail
1 bonita
Back at harbor by 2:30pm and home by 4:00pm.
All fish caught on live dines, except bone on rapala.
Awesome day on the water, good folks to spend it with and a great catching trip.

Good same day report, sounds like a good day on the water, got any pics? I drove by the harbor today looked like a bit of a zoo, keep trying to tell people there are no fish in O'side but by the looks of the parking lot they are not buying it

Thanks for the invite to fish on your friends boat!!
The short run was a nice treat compared to going long for little action. It was a perfect trip for the kids and you could tell at the end of the trip those boys had a great time!! They already couldn't wait to get home and tell about their first Dodos!!

Well, we have all seen plenty of pics of Dodos, so here is what fishing is really about.
The boys having a great time and interested in everything going on.
Sorry about the date on the pics, I will remember to set that some day.

Nice job guys. Not bad for a half day of fishing.
With the way the launch ramp looked in the morning, it looked like it would be 5 boats/paddy....

Yeah, the 1/2 day thing was great!! When we found the virgin paddie...........all 5 of us were hooked up!!!! Madness!! Total Madness!!

Yes it was a great day.
By the pic's I think I was smilling more than the boys, I think we wore them out.
At the end of the day the story reads, "A great for all and
bloodydeck(s) was the exclamation point(s)!!!!!"
Thanx again to Henry, Slayer, Norm and the boys for a day filled with memories.
