Left Dana Point early only to find the weather was up, got out 12 miles before deciding it just wasn't worth it for a fair weather fisherman like me. Close setting 5 foot swells with an occasional 8 footer throw in. Water temp down to 73.8 where it was 78 degrees just a day ago and 66.7 at the mouth of the harbor, probably from upwelling. This year has not been lucky for me. "I heard a guy in an aluminum got a dodo".

Download the Windy app. It'll become your best friend when planning a trip.

Oh man...I’m a loyal RR guy. But I’m sure they’re all great.

I hope action picks up for us around OC, and weather lays down...I’ve burned so much fuel, and bow teeth...I’m considering taking the rig down to SD....and slipping it for a month.

After Marxist day, I’ll head out on Wednesday. We shall see

The boats in Northern California fishing the Albies have had real shitty weather for the past 2 months, Their lucky to get 1-2 days in every 10 days. Maybe the jet stream is changing for us in So Cal?

I've put off trips for the last 2 weeks because of the weekday forecasts, even second guessing myself when looking at harbor cams in the morning and saying to myself "we could've gone out in that" only to find out how nasty it got later on the outside.

Not to sound like a smart ass but you really should be checking the weather more carefully. That wind and associated sea state were not only forecasted but actually occurring at the time of your trip. You should always refer to some of the popular apps (sail flow, windy, etc.) and in my opinion cross reference them with statements and reports generated by the nws. For bonus points you should even be looking at the different weather models that create the basis for the reports for the apps and the nws which mainly consist of the NAM, GFS, and ECMWF computer models to see if they are consistent with each other. Could potentially save you from a very bad experience. My two cents.

Sorry big guy never got quizze and just got off a 3 day on the Excel where I got to partake in a 235lb BFT and watched the Okuma rep land another and that was pretty much it for three days, not my idea of a good trip.
