Did anyone check that cool looking new Defiance at FHS. Called the 195 Yellowtail. Looks like it was made with socal in mind. A 20'er w/115 Yammie four stroke and bitchen pilothouse. I noticed two nice removable holds in the floor with lifting handles and salesman says it has a 90 fuel gal tank. I think he said it was 3200 lbs. Looked a little narrow with the 7' beam but what a nice trailer boat (can you say trips to baja?). Plenty of fishing room in the cockpit but the rails were to low in the front to be of any use. High freeboard in the back but I'm afraid it may rock a bit when drifting. Priced @ 30k and was a neat lil boat.

I know, sounds like an ad for Defiance but it was nice to see a new boat that didn't look like every other boat next to it.

I was checking out that boat too. My initial feeling was, that's the best idea someone has come up with for a boat in a long time. Finally, a small little p-house for local fishing. I actually spent quite a bit of time talking with the sales rep., fortunately since I already have a boat, it was more bs-ing than sales talk. Turns out the pilothouse was thought up by their CNC guy, kinda on a whim. You'll also notice, the yellowtail vs. the other Defiance boats was a little more refined. There's a reason for that, it IS, a Tiderunner boat, with a p-house added on. Take a look:

http://www.yachtworld.com/core/list...it=true&man=tiderunner&slim=quick&searchtype=

That begs the question, is the p-house worth the $5k upgrade?

I still really like the boat. I'd check out the history of the Tiderunner boats.

Your right... and to the CNC guy, as the Guiness folks say "Brilliant!"

I noticed that Tidewater lists the deadrise @ 22 degrees and beam of 7'8". That boat may ride real well for local waters. It also said the fuel tank was 50 gal but I noticed the boat may have had some changes as the transom is different on the webite then the boat at the show and the one on your link. Course 50 gals and that yam 115 4S would do it.

Is the PH worth 5k? Well a good top and glass is gotta be somewhat pricey and would not look near as cool or be as comfortable.

I picked up one of the flyers and lost it.

Did anyone happen to keep a flyer and can relay the price of that boat?

Looks like an ideal inshore fishing boats.

Thanks

Not trying to be a prick but I personally don't like the lines. The pilothouse looks too upright and there is basically no bow. Looks like a good cockpit for fishing though. Wonder what the ride would be like with the helm so far forward?

Looks nice on the trailer and in that picture sitting in calm water. My opinion, it will roll big time and with the helm that far forward...can you say:smash: :smash: :smash: :smash: :smash: :smash: :smash: :smash: :smash: :smash: :smash: :smash: :smash: :smash: :smash: :smash: :smash: :smash:

I would test one in an afternoon chop before any money exchanged hands for sure.
