Second of the two new rods for Rick Maxa of Fisherman's Landing Tackle.......this one is a deep drop swordfish rod. Built this one on a Calstar BTG6465XXH on a Winthrop "Adjustabutt", with Fuji HBSG silicone carbide guides. This one has his more traditional color combination, but we flopped the color sequence around with the gold for the top wraps. Squeezed in a little Throop Tiger / STTW action between the first two guides with a swordy decal over the top.

That's stunning! Looks great with all that metallic gold on top.
Thanks Bill, I was a little apprehensive about gold top wraps.....but that was the request. Guess it's going to help for fishing it in the dark.

I see that guys here on the west coast building deep drop rods, don’t use a swing tip guide. Is that by choice or is the swing tip just hard to get out here?

I always keep a couple of the Alps roller pivot tops in stock, but don't get asked for them very often.....
