Your thrill of the hunt & ethic is to be commended!
As a general rule, I won't send a denning dog in after a denned coyote or shoot one out of a tree ...I figure if he made it to either one then he won the match.
Albacora, the chase IS the hunt. Far as I am concerned.
That is sort of the reason I began to somewhat stray from "specialized"working dogs . Last Fall, I was supposed to have orders to North Africa so I sold my fast dogs to a friend of mine with the USDA . By Feb., my orders were cancelled which left me with empty kennels ( my crop of coyote combines are now working for the USDA in Idaho, killing lamb killers) . So , I was like " WTF ? What do I do in the meantime ?" which led me to my Airedales( long story in that all together). After having owned Airedale pups since March,I'll never be without at least one.....EXTREMELY versatile and devoted .
But ,yeah.....being beat fair and square is something I am OK with.
