Don’t be so quick to dismiss the dirty water. Water was pretty green below the 230 when we fished on Tuesday. There is another report today that said the same thing.

Thats right. Fish that edge between the blue and green. Thanks for the report. Decisions...do I fish our local offshore banks or take the boys to the east end tomorrow? All the same run for me.

It was real weird ! Usually you start to see life a few miles out . Nothing all day EXCEPT the BIGEST GREAT WHITE shark Ive ever seen.it was Not afraid at all, trolling the kite NW of the 43 , approx 8 knots looked down About 5 ‘ off the swim step under The prop wash to see the beast it somewhat rolled on its side so I got a reel good look at the grey on top and the white line that separates upper body and lower body!!! Think I might have shit my pants for a second thinking it was a mola mmola.. kinda an eri feeling because it just looked at me lethargicly but knew what I seen then surfaced to show a huge dorsal fin at least 3’ tall about 30’ behind the boat then was gone.

There was a small finger of “ cleaner water” but really didn’t see any bluish water. Honestly, it looked greener then the bay water

I don’t know. I think what we have, is what we got. Big BFT lurking around SCI and YFT south of the border. Every time the YFT try coming up to the local banks, they get destroyed by the seiners. Until the seiners go, I feel this is pretty much what we have here. Scattered fish, very boat shy.

I have mentioned this, In previous post to somewhat speculation, why this, maybe that, to have a PFA ( positive fishing attitude) I’ve been fishing offshore for 15 years privately on my own boat, and honestly my last trip out I felt sick to my stomach and it wasn’t because it was rough. It was flat out a dessert- I agree it’s what we got and what we get. Shit those little yellowfin are still in diapers. I’m about ready to bust out the trout gear. Top shot recommendations? 2# top or 4#?

Jolla and the ocean was a dead murky green. Even the sea lions stayed away.

Same results! Ran down from Huntington today. Fish past the 43/ Corner for NOTHING!!
NO fish seen or marked, just tons of bait, empty paddies. WTF? A desert for us. Weird season...
Saw something huge breach by the 43. Somebody said they had a Great White breach down there? Not sure if that’s what we saw?

When I left mission bay, I knew something was off. I could tell that I either had to run 100 miles or get nothing. I can’t complain, we got yellowtail, ling cod and a Boccaccio last weekend and even fought a mako. Had to have a skunk day sooner or later

I had an approx 14-16’ white off my stern BIG around the 43. I wouldn’t be surprised. We saw two large sharks that day both when kite was up
Unfortunately I don’t think we’re going to see the action this year like we saw last year. It’s turning back to how it was 8-9 years ago when it was all about the 43-181-182 if u we’re lucky .
