Hey there all,

So a group of us from Las Vegas made the run down to Dana Point with our boats again. This time our target was the Yellowfin making their way up.

Short Story - 5 Boats - 9 Yellowfin Tuna. 2 Dorado, 2 Thrasher Sharks and a bunch of Calico Bass.

Long Story

WOW....... What an Amazing Weekend we all had in Dana Point. It all started off by us loading up 5 boats and heading out at 7 pm Friday evening. We arrived in Dana Point at 1:30 am. Some folks grabbed a little sleep while other were way to excited and made sure their gear was ready to go. We launched our boats at 4 am and picked up some beautiful sardines at the bait barge. We made our way out shortly before sunrise to beautiful conditions. The ocean was a 1-2 ft swell and very light winds all day long. We searched around for a while trying to find Kelp Patties. I got a call from a fellow fisherman who gave me coordinates to a kelp holding lots of Dorado. We made our way towards that location. As soon as we found it a couple boats hooked up instantly on beautiful Dorado. Soon the Tuna moved in and several of us had hookups. Several fish were lost and several were caught. Saturday ended up 5 boats 5 Yellowfin Tuna, 2 Dorado, and a beautiful Thrasher Shark.

Sunday started out much the same way as Saturday. We got our bait and headed out. Got to the same area as Saturday and found much slower conditions. Everyone was fishing sardine chunks. There were 3 more Yellowfin caught that morning. By 11 am most of us started making our way in to head home. One of the guys stayed the latest and was rewarded by catching a Beautiful 6 ft Thrasher Shark also.

All Tuna were caught out by the 279 Bank area south of Dana Point.

We could not have asked for a better trip.

WOW SHARKS THAT SMALL SHOULD HAVE RELEASED
Until the regs change, I see no issue. You're beating a dead horse people.
I would understand your bitching if these guys were fishing our coast and regularly killing T's.
Congrats on the delicious T-shark steaks btw!

Yeah I love my Tracker. It handle the Ocean really well. and gets amazing gas mileage. We ran 50 miles on Saturday and burned a whole 8 gallons. No complaints here at all. I even built a great 15 gallon bait tank that keeps my bait in pretty decent shape.
