Did a hybrid program. Launched Dana. Went out to 267/279 and trolled-- looking for kelp and whatever... Found a blue whale -- first for me! So huge. Anyway, motored down and in heading for Barn Kelp. On the way found 3 ENORMOUS paddies -- with absolutely nothing home except for birds roosting. Stopped at a deep rockpile, got a few fish taco's to go. Got to the Barn, not much in the way of kelp. Moved up the line and found a good patch right at pattersons. Posted up outside and upcurrent (current was 'in'-- neither up nor down). Threw out the chum bucket (homemade chum) and chunked a few of the giant sardines from the dana point barge. After about 20 minutes took a look underwater with a camera -- there were only about 1,000,000 13" calico around. The rest of the afternoon was cast, catch, release, repeat ad nauseum. Fun day on the water.
