split the jetty's around 10 am with a pack of squid. looking for whales and dolphins was on the menu today, for the females aboard, so decided to pass on the sardines, if you have one you know the drill this time of year.

just off the jetty was various dolphins pods pounding bait balls, totally cool to drift thru the balls of bait, watching the mammals pick them apart, nothing but scales in their path.

pulled on up on a rock, caught scuplin, sheephead and white fish on the squid. fishing was good.

moved towards the point, had something smash the rubbertail, lost it, and then something large and silver follow it up.

next we followed a northbound gray for a spell and then headed south, to 30 feet. we caught catalina blues, senoritas, wrasse and more whitefish and a sandbass on the rubber.

nothing over 20 inches, but we caught a lot of fish. seemed better than drifting for halibut lately. we actually used all the bait we purchased for a change.

really a beautiful day on the water. lots of action, just small, but using smaller set ups made it fun.
