Got sardines about 9:30. first stop 65 feet deep off mid jetty, just some bite rakes and lizard fish. headed south and stopped on a few schools of bait in 100 feet, more rakes. next stop some lobster traps in 85 feet, a few short sand bass. ended up in 75 feet inside the yellow buoy outside the pier. got one short halibut, one fat 26" halibut, a sand dab and more lizard fish. they bit the smaller sardines. headed north to a known rock off the jetty in 85 feet for nothing. Then headed up inshore off strands 35 - 25 feet, small bass and a sea lion. final destination was off capo beach in 32 feet next to a rock or two, where we set the hook, chummed and chunked and got a good bite going on calico on the surface with 1/16 egg and sand bass on the bottom. lost count at 20 from 2:30 to about 4:00. anyways the water is clear we could see the bottom off capo over the rock in 22 feet, current was uphill and wind was downhill, not what is good for that spot, but still was good fishing on the hook. trying again tomorrow. and as mentioned bait is everywhere, probably some thresher sharks out there.
