Took out my oldest and a friend….Got mackerel at the red bouy off the point.. don’t know how many times I see people using a sabiki… put those away.. flyline bait, cut up sardine etc..with a trout rod and a small circle hook… and a split shot..and use a chum bag.. a can of cat food is not a chum bag… they will be wide open and if have a new fisherman onboard they will have a blast… anyways.. left them biting

Headed out towards the 209 across the east side of the 267… basically dead..on the 267..
Short of the 209 birds start to appear and we see a few boats and the sum fun chasing a pod of dolphins. We motor half to 3/4 a mile up wind of it all and start to drift… start seeing Tuna on the sounder… the side scan is a game changer…so many times nothing under the boat - but they are there…
Get bit on a super long soak and fight it almost in and the hook pops loose . Size 6/0 - with 80 pound floro…then get another bite that lets go…
See birds in the distance and head toward them and see a few boats… use the binos.. one is bit.. again at least a 1/2 10 3/4 mile away and we start to fish… there is no need to get close to anyone, the tuna are not holding to small boats. Again we start seeing them and get bit on the mackerel.. 80 point floro 5/0 light circle landed and then my son gets bit 25 pound and 4/0 hybrid and after a great fight landed almost 50#….
We also had quite a few short bites..
Saw one boat fight one forever… hope he got it… we got a few hundred yards away.. when we were hooked on our second fish.. that took almost an hour at the same time they were fighting theres… guy had a black shirt and it was a really nice boat..
Again people driving over our lines and over the fish completely clueless… there are a ton of fish out there..
Get some sardines for chum
And mackerel for bait…. They let you use the bigger tackle..and get out there now… and be patient!!!
