Today, I decided to purchase a pair of the Tuna Alley sunglasses by Costa. I thought it's not too expensive since they advertised for a little under $200. Then I called in to ask about prescription lenses, and boy, was I surprised. The same pair with Rx lenses costs an extra $450 or so. I thought they would only cost maybe another hundred, top. So the whole pair final costs is over $600. Wow!!!

Does anyone owns a pair with prescription lenses? Does that price sounds right? Know any place cheaper?

    Thanks!!!

Been through this same thing. The cost is in the lenses. According to the person at the shop I went to, Polarized Curved lenses are expensive to make. If they are curved that adds to it also. I spent the same a few years ago on Kaenon . Debating myself this go around on another option.

Yeah, ridiculously expensive. That's the cost of a whole new Talica II setup up. :-)

If you simply need them to see things up close, get the Costa C-Mates that have the small magnifier at the bottom of the lens.

I'm in the same boat right now. Trying to pick a pair of prescription sunglasses. I've been having a hard time dropping $600 on a new set of glasses.

My Maui Jims with prescription lenses were $580.00. Crazy expensive but worth it if you bad eyes. They are progressive lenses.

Got some rx Ocean Waves 15 years ago and paid $585 back then. Prescription fishing glasses for those of us shortsighted souls are a necessity. If you like to sight fish in the bright sun, spend the bucks, it's well worth it. Without my trusty sunglasses I'm only Clark Kent mild mannered angler...

Thank you all. I guess that IS the average price then. Have to eventually get myself a pair. Wonder if insurance will cover any of it, besides the eye exam.

At that cost, I am going to have to superglue it to my head, lol.

"Question, are these prices with insurance?" - No, but some (like Costa) have lifetime warranty.

Edit - oops, you meant purchase with insurance? I would like to know too. :-)
