I know a lot of guys on here familiar with this set up and I’m looking for advice on what works for yall. I have a 220ex with a just put a Yamaha F250. All of the prop calculations say I should use a 15x15 prop. The dealers say 17p or 19p. I don’t want to buy multiple props trying to dial in. I currently have a Yamaha saltwater 2
3 blade 15.25x19 On there now and get 5000 rpms @WOT 32SOG and hard to get on plane in rough water. Should I go 3 or 4 blade. Stainless or aluminum and what hole should the motor be mounted in.

stainless for sure, I would try a 15x17 , also experiment with the trim when on a plane...

Find a Prop shop in your area and ask them. If recommend and purchase from them and they are reputable they will take back and give you the correct size prop at no charge until you get the right one.

Brian at Valley Prop in Ventura is an amazing resource for stuff like this, I'd give him a ring.

Sold my Parker. You can find me on the Red Rooster.
Propping is an art as much as a science. Go to a prop shop and explain your issue. They'll recommend one for you to try. If you can't get the rpms you want, take it back for a different prop. It took me three tries to get the right prop for my boat...

With the new Honda 225 I went down to a 15 pitch from a 17 on the Evinrude 225. It is way better at holding a slower planing speed in rougher seas and I still get 3 mpg.

Glad you posted, cause i need a good shop in Socal also. Ventura is a bit too far though, but have heard so many good things about the prop gods. Any other prop shops that deal more with the offshore crowds?

I have heard about Hill Marine and they know their stuff, but was told by someone they specialize in freshwater boats. But will try regardless as that shop is 15 miles from me.

i use my boat only in the ocean. chad asked some questions, about the boat, current rpm at WOT, and my expectations. before when i throttle up, stern would dig in and drop. this was my biggest gripe. he also told me if his recommendation didn't work, i could bring back the prop and try another. no need for that though.....he nailed it first time.

I started with a 15 1/4 x 19 and couldn’t get on plane or make 5000 rpm. Then went to at 15x15 and still couldn’t make 5000. Turned out my midsection was bad. Now that It’s fixed and back on the water it was shipped back with a 14.5x17 and made 6100wot and 34 SOG. i put a 15x15 4 blade on it and got 5000 and 37SOG but probably goes faster. I have to push my tabs hard to keep it from porpoising and that adds a lot of drag. But the most notable difference is the lift and mid range plane. I gained 3 mph top and end I’m able to hold 30sog at 900 less rpm with the 4 blade. I’m going to have the prop tuned to give me 5900 rpms from a local shop.
