So I have a question for you all. I have 4 setups to go on this next trip(2.5 day) of mine on July 25th on the Cortez out of Seaforth. I want to make sure I have them paired correctly and that I don’t need to buy a lighter rod for the 25-30lb setup. The setups I have are as follows:

Shimano Talica 8II with 50lb braid paired with a UC RGP80 Tilefish Jr. for 25-30lb

Penn Fathom 25N with 65lb braid paired with a Phenix Black Diamond PSW760H for 40lb

Shimano Talica 12II with 65lb braid paired with a Phenix Black Diamond Hybrid PHD760H for 40-50lb

Penn Torque 40NLD2 with 80lb braid paired with a UC RGP80 Predator+ for 60lb…maybe light 80 if necessary

I’m open to any and all suggestions regarding these pairings, including picking up a new rod if necessary. Let me know y’all.

Looks good. I use my psw760h for 30# although I’ve used it for 40# too. My Tilefish Jr 76 is my other 30# rod. Is the 8’ version stronger? If so you might swapping them and seeing how they work out.

That’s what I’m wondering. It seems a touch faster in action and stiffer overall than the PSW760H. I may switch those around…
