Here's a few I have recently watched and enjoyed. Please note some of these are a little offbeat and may not be for everyone.

Once Upon A Time In Hollywood- Another home run from Quentin Tarantino.
Blinded By The Light- This movie is based on the true story of a Pakistani-Brit teenager in the 80's UK who finds inspiration and direction through the music of Bruce Springsteen. Tremendous soundtrack.
On The Shoulders Of Giants- A documentary about an early African American barnstorming basketball team, the Harlem Rens. Produced by some guy named Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.
Another Earth- A teenage girl celebrates too much after being accepted to MIT and ends up having a drunk driving accident with terrible results. This one moves pretty slowly but I feel it raises very some profound questions.

the book was great!
Don't forget the Satan Bug to stay thematic. All of Alistair MacLean's books are great. The movies, not necessarily. Ice Station Zebra was a great book and bad movie while the Guns of Navarone and Where Eagles Dare were good movies too.
