After a long offshore season and many miles on my boat I was ready for a layed back trip to the islands. I left shelter island at 5 with my buddy Rick and was greeted with great sea conditions. Got to my rockfish spot and quickly started putting some nice reds in the box. They were eating the squid and sardine but the better ones came on the sardine. All fish were caught in 220 to 250ft of water.

After filling up on reds we headed to the middle grounds to look for a yellow or 2. Got there and metered a nice school of fish and threw bait and the water erupted with 10 to 12lb Bonito. Got a good one on the iron but nothing else. Meterd around a bit more for nothing and headed to pukey point.

Water at north island was deep blue and 66.5 degrees with tons of bait but no yellows I saw. Cruised around a bit and decided to finish off on some more rockfish. Headed to the barn around 11. Water looks good hopefully the yellows come around good luck!

way to go bud, that's the nicest part of the Islands is the variety of fish there. Were there many other boats there?
