Started out at Pukey Point at 7 am and slow trolled up one yellowtail and a few other odds and ends, bass, bonito, barracuda, etc. Seals were crazy so made a move to go check out South Island and arrived near the tuna pens to find yellows up boiling around. Got 2 more on the slow troll and another 2 on soaking baits over meter marks. Midday was slow then in the afternoon I boated two more on the surface iron. Then all of the sudden a bunch of bluefin swam through and started throwing huge boils. My friend hooked one on the surface iron and landed it and we were stoked! We were in less than 70 feet of water, but the water was still deep blue. The water was a nice deep blue everywhere at the islands it seemed.
4-6” sardines from EB lasted all day
Yellows were 6-10 pounds and I lost a bigger model on the surface iron. At one point had a school of 20+ lbers following my jig at Pukey.
BFT was a little less than 10 lbs I’d say
Lotta life around. Good luck

The islands are fishy right now. Well done guys. Artificials and live bait, heck yeah. Looked like a great day
