Left Last Thursday with a few buddies new to fishing and got to the spot at around 0400 to find the fleet lit up all around. Damn near thought I was near shore with all the lights in the distance!
Tried the glow flat falls/sinker rigs and some other flat falls for nothing. At gray light motored around to find a decent size paddy holding plenty of good size yellowtail. A great way start and picked off about 8 on that stop with at least that many lost between the 4 of us. Finally another boat slid in and started taking part. We left them biting in search of the Blues. stopped here and there on meter marks at about 100 ft. and ran into a few boiling schools that would sink out when we got within casting distance. Frustrating to see them and then just as fast not see them.
We trolled around some feathers and got a double hook up on the troll for some yellowfin. we must have taken too long to throw bait because the school never showed up.
Ended the day on the south island for a couple good size cuda and another great size YT and a couple of Calicos. Lots of life at the north side of south island.
overall a good trip for yellows but nothing to be had for the blues. sounds like we should have tried north with all the reports coming from a couple miles from shore!

Thanks for the report! You may have gotten more if your glasses were open a little bit wider. 8-)
